Coilover kits

A coilover kit or adjustable lowering set has the function of being able to lower the car by up to 12 cm. This can be changed at any time. For the sporty driver, a lowered car is nice for the road holding, while for commuter traffic it is nice to raise the car slightly for comfort. A coilover kit ensures that you can find a balance in this yourself and that you can constantly adjust these adjustments. By lowering the car, road holding will improve and the car will have more stability. For example, the car remains stable during braking. In addition, the car can turn corners faster with the stable road holding. Furthermore, it gives the car a sporty appearance due to the lowering in the wheel arches in relation to the wheel.

Coilover or lowering springs

Lowering springs are usually cheaper than a coilover kit. A coilover kit also contains shock absorbers, which makes the set more expensive. In addition, the coilovers can be adjusted as required. Lowering springs are built around the shock absorber so that the car is lowered. Lowering springs are bought in a specific size and cannot be adjusted differently afterwards. If you still opt for lowering springs, remember that the original shock absorbers are still in good condition.

Adjust the coilover

You can adjust a coilover kit yourself. These are delivered from the factory at a certain height. It is therefore important to see what height is desirable for your vehicle. When the old suspension strut is removed from the car, it becomes clear how high the car stands in its originality. When you know how high the car is normally and how low it should then be, the coilover kit can be adjusted. Start on one side and make sure that the other side is adjusted exactly the same with a caliper. Make sure that the tires do not hit the wheel arch, even when the car is steering completely to the left or to the right. Subsequently, the damping and the tension on the suspension can also be set.
