Trailer lights
If you regularly use a caravan or trailer, it is important that you make sure that at all times' trailer
lights are working properly. Good lighting provides the basis for traffic
safety. Lighting ensures that you are clearly visible to your fellow road
users. In addition, you are required by law to provide your trailer with proper
connected and working trailer lights. For example, your trailer needs to be
equipped with two proper functioning amber indicator lights, an illuminated
number plate, two triangular red reflectors, two red brake lights and if your
trailer is more than 1.3 meters wide you need at least one red fog light. Side
note, to illuminate your number plates, one or two number plate lights are
mandatory, for which an 'E' marked light is required. Finally, all trailers
built after September 30th 1990 require front reflectors. Additionally, the
front reflectors must have front position lights (clear lens) if the trailer is
more than 1.6 meters wide. Is the trailer lighting not functioning properly?
Then you risk a heavy fine.
Trailer taillights & marking lights Is the rear light of your trailer failing because of a small accident that
happened? At Winparts you can find more than 250 different trailer taillights.
In some cases the damage is not too bad and only replacing the rear light glass
is sufficient. That is why you will find trailer taillights as well as trailer
taillight glasses. Of course, you can also choose for the increasingly popular LED
taillights. In addition to trailer taillights, you will also find sidelights
or marker lights for your trailer at Winparts. Two red sidelights are legally
required in the United Kingdom to improve visibility in traffic, one at each
side.
Trailer light board As you can read above, you need a lot
of lighting; rear lights, direction indicators, brake lights, fog lights,
number plate lights and sidelights. To easily meet legal requirements, you can
use a so-called ? trailer light board?. An advantage is that you do not have to
assemble and connect all the different lamps separately. You can easily mount
the trailer lighting board with some screws and connect the main cable to your car.
These lighting boards are equipped with all mandatory trailer lighting. The
lighting boards are specifically designed for the Netherlands though. Make sure
that the trailer board meets local legal requirements for trailers.
Trailer license plate light You are also required to provide your trailer with number plate lights, for
which an 'E' marked light is required. In some cases, the trailer taillights are
already equipped with integrated trailer license plate lights. In this case, you
do not have to use separate trailer license plate lights. If a clear window in
the rear position lamp is approved, this can be used instead of a separate
number plate lamp. However, it must be fitted to the manufacturer's
instructions, with regard to distance from the number plate. Do the rear lights
not have integrated license place lights? Then you need to assemble separate
trailer license plate lights on the back of your trailer instead. At Winparts
you will find a wide range of universal number plate lights for your trailer.
Trailer emergency lights In some cases, it is necessary to make
fellow road users aware or to warn them to proceed with caution. In such a situation
emergency lights are perfect. Emergency strobe lights warn against potential
danger. You will find a wide range of emergency trailer lights in different
colours on our website. Before purchasing, always make sure that you meet local
legal requirements for road safety.
