Car radiator
The car radiator is an important part of the cooling system of your car. The combustion which takes place in the engine provides a lot of heat. The
cooling system is required to prevent the engine from overheating.
How does a car radiator work? The engine coolant that runs through the cooling system gets hot in the engine
block. This liquid then flows through the radiator, where it gets cooled thanks
to a system of small pipes and cooling fins (these are thin metal plates that
conduct the heat). The cooled off liquid flows back into the engine to cool the
engine. From there the process repeats itself.
Car radiator is leaking Unfortunately, it may occur that the car radiator is leaking. This can be
caused by, for example, stone chippings. Basically, there are two solutions to
repair a car radiator leak. The first thing you can try is to seal the leak
with car radiator sealant. This sealant is also called leak stop or stop leak .
There are special liquids for radiator leaks from numerous brands such as Bar?s , Wynns and Liqui Moly , and one very suitable product is Wynn's Radiator Stop Leak . Please note that using Stop-Leak is, in general, a temporary
solution. In most cases, the radiator needs to be replaced. This is at the same
time also the second solution.
Car radiator replacement You can replace a car radiator yourself, but keep in mind that this can easily
take up to two hours. When replacing, ensure that the engine has properly
cooled off. Also, use a cloth or tarp and a oil drain tray . Loosen the drain plug
and remove the radiator hoses . Be aware, the coolant will come out so make sure
to get your drip tray under there. Once it?s done dripping, start dismantling
the radiator and replace it with the new one. Connect everything and top up the
coolant. The last step is to turn the engine on so that it heats up and the coolant
runs through your cooling system.
If you have your radiator replaced at your local garage, costs can
easily run-up. Firstly, you need to pay for the parts itself. Subsequently,
replacing it by a mechanic can also take 2 hours, which you need to pay for.
And finally, you pay a lot more for new engine coolant at a local garage than
if you would order it at Winparts. We at Winparts offer a 5 litres jug of
coolant for as little as £ 10
Buying a new car radiator When your car radiator needs to be replaced, come to us. Winparts UK offers car
