You add the fluid to the air conditioning system and switch on the air conditioning. If there's a leak, you'll see the fluid coming out. Small leaks can be solved with special sealants that you inject into the system.
Pressure test at the garage: During a pressure test, the air conditioning system is connected to a compressor and pressurised. If the compressor cannot maintain the pressure, this indicates a leak. A detection fluid is often used to pinpoint the exact location.
