Blind spot mirrors
With a blind spot mirror, you can participate in traffic much more safely. Cars, vans and trucks all have
blind spots. These blind spots are spaces around the vehicle that you as a
driver cannot properly see, even using the wing mirrors of your car. With a
blind spot mirror, the view of the driver gets extended so you can see all the
spaces around the car. A lot safer!
Blind spot mirrors are
actually very simple. They’re generally curved mirrors that attach to your
vehicle’s side view mirrors. The curved surface allows the mirror to reflect objects
from a wider range of angles than is possible with conventional wing mirrors.
Next to being known as blind spot mirrors often these type of mirrors are also
called wide-angle mirror and even wide angle blind spot mirror.
There are different variants
of blind spot mirrors available, which all differ in shape and size. You can
choose from round, square or moon-shaped mirrors. Some have an adjustable
viewing angle which is not available at another. At Winparts you will also find
a number of blind spot mirrors specifically designed for trucks and lorries.
Where to place blind spot
mirror
How to install a blind spot mirror
depends on the type of blind spot mirror, really. In general, though, they all
need to be assembled underneath, on or on top of the wing mirror. There are
various mounting options, depending on the blind spot mirror that you want.
For example, there are fixed
and self-adhesive types. The fixed models are suitable for mounting on the wing
mirror, often a fixing system using clamps. With this type in general, a
mounting kit is included with the product. Also, self-adhesive blind spot
mirrors can be found in our wide assortment. These can easily be stuck in a
corner of the wing mirror of your car. The self-adhesive blind spot mirrors are
equipped with a strong adhesive strip that ensures that the mirror stays in
place while driving. There are also blind spot mirrors available which use a
suction cup.
Finally, it is very important
that you adjust the mirrors properly. If you do not adjust them properly, you
will not have an optimal view and blind spots are still in place. To use a blind
spot mirror correctly, it should be installed so that it provides a view of the
blind spots to your right and left when sitting in the driver’s seat. Make sure
your side view mirror itself is positioned correctly (you shouldn’t be able to
see the side of your car), and then adjust the blind spot mirror so that you
can see what the other mirror misses. A possible alternative to blind spot
mirrors is a camera system.
