Mud Flaps & Splash Guards
Mud flaps or splash guards are rubber patches or flaps that you can assemble behind the tyre and to the wheel arch. These ?guards? protect your car frame from corrosion and makes sure that your car gets less dirty. They do not only protect your own vehicle. They will also protect other cars from flying debris that catapults away from your car. Mud flaps protect against water from puddles, mud, stones, twigs and other stuff on the road. In addition, mud flaps prevent water from splashing up during or just after a rain shower. This prevents the view from being obstructed by splashing water.
Types of mud flaps In our product range you find both universal mud flaps as well as car specific. You can easily make the universal mud flaps to size yourself. The car specific are tailor-made for a specific car make and model. Curious which products we offer for your car? Simply enter your number plate or select your car on make and model.
There is also differences in the used material for the splash guards. For example, we offer metal and rubber mud flaps. The advantage of rubber is that they are flexible. The metal variants are definitely not. Metal mud flaps do not move and can get stuck. Metal mud flaps are actually more for decoration purposes than they are functional. Rubber mud flaps are also less sensitive to cold weather conditions and rust. This in contrast to metals splash guards. We recommend therefore to purchase the rubber version if you are after functionality.
Mud flaps are most frequently used for normal cars, rally cars (look for Sparco mud flaps ), vans, trucks, motor homes and caravans. If you're looking for caravan mud flaps or mud flaps for your motor home please look for universal mud flaps. Van mud flaps can be found using your number plate - generally speaking these are car specifc.
Next to universal mud flaps we offer many car specific mud flaps. Whether you drive a van such as a Ford Transit or VW Crafter, or a normal passenger cars such as a VW Tiguan , Fiat 500 , VW Polo or any Vauxhall/Opel , Skoda , or Ford - we just offer the right mud flaps for your car. We supply mud flaps & splash guards for any Make and Model!
Assembling mud flaps Getting mud flaps assembled to your car is quite easy. It is actually a matter of screwing the splash guards behind the tyre to the wheel arch. Some cars have pre-drilled holes, which increase the easiness to assemble the mud flaps to your car. If your car does not have pre-drilled holes, you need to drill these yourself. In this case, we recommend assembling the mud flaps in such a way that dirt can?t get between the mud flap and the car paint. If the dirt can reach the car paint, it might rust with time. In order to assemble the mud flaps, you will probably have to disassemble the tyres first. Unless, of course, you can easily reach the place where you need to assemble them. Often this is only the case with pick-ups and SUV's. Most cars have too little space between the wheel arch and the tyre, making it necessary to disassemble the tyres first. You will receive additional parts for assembly with almost all the mud flaps that we offer on our website. Do you have extra wide tyres on your car? If that´s the case, please pay close attention to the width of the mud flaps before ordering. In general, the splash guards are suitable for standard sized tyres. With larger tyres it is possible that the mud flaps touch the tyres. If this is indeed the case we don't recommend assembling them.
